Angelica & Tyler’s Greek Orthodox Wedding in Jacksonville: A Deacon, a Country Club, and a Whole Lot of Laughter

Some couples bring a little laughter to their wedding day. Angelica and Tyler brought the kind that makes you smile right along with them!

On September 19, 2026, Angelica and Tyler celebrated a day filled with love, family, and the kind of humor that feels entirely their own. Their wedding moved from a meaningful Greek Orthodox ceremony at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church to a joyful reception at San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida. And at the heart of it all? Two people completely in love, and ready to laugh together through every part of the day.

As a Jacksonville wedding photographer, I’m always moved by the personal moments that make a wedding feel like this couple. For Angelica and Tyler, one of those moments was especially meaningful: Angelica’s father, a Deacon at St. John the Divine, participated in the ceremony. Their son Aleksander was there, too, sharing in a day that held so much significance for their family.

My husband and I have spent nearly two decades photographing and filming weddings as a team, and for Angelica and Tyler we captured both: full photo and video coverage of the whole day, from the quiet details at San Jose Country Club to the last laugh on the dance floor. We know how much a day can hold: big emotions, little details, joyful commotion, and moments that matter in a deeply personal way. We approach wedding photography and wedding videography with care, so couples can stay present while we document the story unfolding around them.

Getting ready at San Jose Country Club

Before the ceremony, the day’s details offered a first glimpse of Angelica’s expressive style. Her white gown hung in the country club’s arched entryway, framed by topiaries and the warm, inviting architecture. It was an elegant pause before the laughter, family, and celebration ahead.

And then there were the accessories: vivid red heels with dramatic bows, a bouquet in warm shades of orange and cream, jewelry, perfume, and the invitation arranged on soft tulle. The details felt wonderfully personal: polished, playful, and unmistakably part of Angelica’s day.

Those red bows deserved their own little spotlight! Set against a black wrought-iron gate beside the bouquet, they made for a playful detail photo that was every bit as memorable as the dress.

Details matter, but they’re only one part of the story. I love photographing them because they bring us back to the feeling of getting ready: the anticipation, the textures, the choices, and the excitement of knowing what’s just around the corner. Then it’s time to step into the day itself.

A Greek Orthodox ceremony with family at its heart

At St. John the Divine, the couple stood before the ornate iconostasis as family and wedding party gathered around them. The church’s richly detailed setting made a striking backdrop, but the meaning of the moment came from the people within it.

Angelica’s father’s participation gave the ceremony a personal connection that was uniquely theirs. He was not simply present as a loved one; as a Deacon at the church, he took part in the service alongside the clergy. When a family member has a role in a ceremony, the moment can carry an extra layer of tenderness. As the photographer, I pay close attention, not only to the wide scene, but also to the expressions and connections that make it matter to the people living it.

The stefana, or wedding crowns, are visible in this close portrait of Angelica and Tyler during the ceremony. With the candle glowing between them, the image brings the focus back to the two people at the center of the day.

A bouquet can hold memories, too. Angelica carried three gold-framed photo charms among the flowers. A sweet personal detail that adds another layer to these images. I love when meaningful keepsakes are part of a wedding day: they can be small, but they tell their own story.

Laughter, love, and a country club celebration

After the ceremony, the celebration continued at San Jose Country Club. Out by the fountain, Angelica leaned into Tyler, laughing, while the country club’s red brick and terracotta roof set the scene around them. It’s an image that feels like a little snapshot of their relationship: affectionate, joyful, and not taking themselves too seriously.

And then there was the golf cart! Tyler lifted the bouquet as Angelica covered her mouth, caught in a burst of laughter. It’s one of those photographs that makes me happy because it doesn’t ask anyone to perform a perfect pose. It simply holds onto a real moment between two people who know how to have fun together.

Of course, not every photograph has to be full of motion. A close, quiet portrait lets the two of them take a breath together, wrapped in warm light and each other’s company. The contrast between playful candids and intimate images is part of what makes a wedding gallery feel complete: it gives you room to remember the energy and the tenderness.

As the reception filled with laughter and love, the dance floor brought everyone back into the celebration. Angelica’s mid-laugh moment, arms open and surrounded by guests and bridesmaids in blue, captures the easy joy of the party. No stiff posing. No need to make it anything other than what it was: a celebration full of happiness.

That’s what made Angelica and Tyler’s wedding so special to document: the meaningful ceremony, the family presence, and the unmistakable humor they share. Having both photo and video there meant we could catch the still moments that tell the story, and the sound and motion that bring it all back: her father’s voice during the service, the room filling with laughter, the dance floor coming alive. Their day showed that a wedding can be deeply heartfelt and wonderfully fun at the same time.
