When Brook and Blake joined us for their engagement session in July 2026, we knew we were in for a fun evening. They were sweet, playful, and so comfortable with one another. It was hot during Brook and Blake’s session, but we made the most of every minute and beat the rain coming in. That kind of genuine connection is exactly what we love capturing as a husband-and-wife photography and videography team!

And the best part? We get to see them again on April 3, 2027, when they say “I do” at The Barn at Lakeside in Hawthorne, Florida. Vilano Beach, just north of St. Augustine and within the Jacksonville area, gives couples so much variety in one location. Want wide-open shoreline portraits? You can have them! For a beach engagement session, we usually plan to begin before sunset so we can take advantage of several different looks:

1. Brighter evening portraits while the sky still has rich blue tones.
2. Warm golden-hour images as the light becomes more romantic.
3. Sunset portraits with deeper colors, dramatic clouds, and a cinematic atmosphere.

Brook and Blake’s July session gave us gorgeous coastal color, from bright sapphire-blue water to golden highlights across the rocks and their skin. That changing light allowed the gallery to feel varied while still telling one cohesive story.

A little planning goes a long way! We recommend arriving early enough to breathe, adjust clothing, get comfortable, and enjoy the first few minutes without rushing. Is there anything more stressful than racing toward the sunset with one shoe half-on? Exactly! Let’s avoid that whenever possible. :)
